What WAS the Best Movie Theme Song?

June 19, 2008 by Joe

Some of you may have been wondering the results of the poll that I ran last month, as well as who was the lucky winner of the movie soundtrack as a result! To be honest, I’ve had the results for a while, but a combination of lack of sleep and being extremely busy at my day/night jobs (yes, I still have those) have been holding this post back.

So, without further Ado, let’s announce the winner for the best theme song, as voted by you, the loyal readers of Intermission at Work!

The winner is………

STAR WARS

Yes, the beloved theme song (or music, for those of you who are going to be picky about it) created by John Williams so many years ago was the winner in the poll, with 17 out of the 59 votes on that poll. That’s a pretty good turnout, but I’m hoping to get better results with the next one. Unfortunately, to be eligible to win the soundtrack, you had to also leave a comment on the post. There were quite a few of you who did that… and I’m very thankful for that!

So… let’s announce our winner!

The Winner of the soundtrack was…..

Stephanie of Daily Skittle

Congratulations Steph! I’ll send you an email with the details on how to redeem your prize.

Hopefully you guys didn’t mind waiting so long for this post… I really wanted to get it out sooner. I would like to know if you agree with the selection… leave your thoughts down in the comments!

Rock on, folks. More to come soon!

Star Wars is good, but too bad that its not even John Williams most memorable song. First of all, if you want to mention something in which anyone can whistle, hum, or whatever and instantly know the song, that should be the number one thing to judge this on. But I want to throw one more thing, if you here it, you get inspired, and unfortunately i can’t find a way to get inspired to take on a storm trooper when i hear the theme to a movie known as the “New Hope”. But when i hear the opening cords to “Superman”, well i can kick anyones ass. But John Williams has nothing on a movies themes like the most memorable, loved and overplayed theme of all time, Bill Conti’s “Gonna Fly Now” from our favorite short, italian, underdog by the name of Rocky Balboa. So with that…

I have to agree that superman is a great song. At college it was the song for the goalie, and that rocked. Great stuff, Keith.
