Weekend Wrap Up: Marley and Me sit up Top

January 5, 2009 by Joe · 1 Comment

weekendboxofficeWelcome to the first post here at Intermission at Work for 2009.  It’s late, and I know that I haven’t been doing much posting recently, but I hope to be able to do much more this year, and maybe recruit some writers to help me out.  I’m sure that there are plenty of moviegoers looking to get their opinions out, but either don’t have a movie blog or don’t want to go out and make a blog just for an occassional post.  (Even though that’s what it feels like I’m doing sometimes!)  We’ll talk more about that later though. In any case, let’s take a look at last weekend’s box office! Read more

Weekend Wrap Up: The Box Office Stood Still… Almost

December 17, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

weekendboxofficeWell, the holiday shopping season is now in full swing… and it did reflect somewhat at the Box Office.  Keanu Reeves’ The Day the Earth Stood Still did manage to grab the top spot, but following right behind it was Four Christmases, which remained strong.  Hard to believe that movie has made $87.8 Million Dollars!!!  Here’s how the rest of the box office looked (after the jump): Read more

Weekend Wrap Up: More Chihuahuas at the Top

In a late edition of the Weekend Wrap Up this week (sports have kept me busy), Beverly Hills Chihuahua managed to find it’s way to the top again!  I think this affirms the fact that people were in fact looking for something that their kids could see with them.  Usually, with a movie like Quarantine out, I tend to find that kids movies like the Chihuahuas do better because kids will try to buy tickets for that movie while intending to sneak into their film of choice.  I get to foil them though, so I don’t mind!  Here’s how the rest of the box office turned out: Read more

Weekend Wrap Up: Chihuahuas Take it Home

October 6, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Well, we went past another weekend… quite uneventful where I was, but nevertheless it seems like it was a solid weekend nationwide. I was pretty surprised that Beverly Hills Chihuahua managed to take the top spot… I really thought that Michael Cera would be able to draw people out to come see Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, but I’m afraid I was mistaken. Eagle Eye also managed to stay strong.  Not a good weekend, prediction-wise for me.  Here’s how the box office ended up: Read more

Weekend Wrap Up: Eagle Eye is Tops

September 28, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Hey all… been pretty busy lately, mainly cleaning my room and having a birthday celebration (not for myself), hopefully I haven’t lost any of you!  The weekend is just about over, and it looks like Eagle Eye took the top of the box office, with 29.2 million in box office receipts!  This did go along with what I predicted (or did I, I don’t know if i made a prediction or not) in my Movies this Weekend! column.  Surprisingly, #2 was the Diane Lane/Richard Gere take, Nights in Rodanthe.  Here’s how the rest of the box office shaped up Read more
